Natural indigo dyed silk shawls, the ikat pattern is produced by tie dying the yarn before weaving. The jacquard pattern is produced in the weaving as is the ikat. This quality of indigo dying weathers and wears beautifully, over time the jacquard weave will become more prominant.
It can take up to 10 dye baths for indigo to take to the yarn, this is why indigo often transfers to the skin when first wearing. We advice salt washing indigo to prevent its transfer.
