Made from textiles from all of the family, Kanthas are traditionally made for the daughter of the family as her wedding dowry. Such a beautifully symbolic item to mark the joining of another family through marriage.
These pieces are a minimum of 50 years old, some may have had more current fabrics added to patch up and make good again, but the age is always visible in the layers!
Each piece has been hand made by the family, painstakingly hand quilted, which is why they all vary!
Made entirely of the male family members closet hence the heavy checked pattern!!
