These ancient antique beads are excavated in Mali and Ivory Coast .They were traditionally buried under the threshold of the home and places of worship for protection and good luck.
The ancient stone necklaces are agates, alabaster, quartz and some fossilised shell, the beads are hundreds of years old.
The glass beads (nila or djenne beads from Mali) are Roman period.
We have threaded them up with antique Indian silver amulets and beads too.
The patina on the beads is beautiful, they are aged and frosted by generations of wear and being in the ground like sea glass !
