Folk art created by the Lorenzo Family in Mexico. Four generations of the family paint, hence why they are signed with different names! We buy them from the Grandson, Fernando Lorenzo. These are original paintings inspired by the tradition of retablo painting, which tell a multitude of stories. In the Luchador series, the family take inspiration from the wrestling traditions of Mexican culture, dating back to 1863. The Luche libre is a national sport and weekly event for many Mexicans. Its popularity is now international and is very much a part of pop culture. The de-masking is part of the mystery and magic surrounding the luchadors, they fight to keep there identity hidden, should they loose in certain contests they will have to fight mask-less in future contests!
